Recent major news highlights
In early 2024, WBS established a new manufacturing site in India utilising CNC production through steel processing resulting in new product sizes, finishes, design options and adding more options for special sizes and customisation. Custom size frames can be made in just a few days, without major tooling investment and long lead times. New products can be produced exactly to client specifications regardless of local mattress sizes. This added flexibility means that customers designing a room featuring a WBS wall bed can utilise every centimetre, gap, and space.
A R & D centre and showroom has also been established in India to support development regionally and internationally and increase further access to the expanding India market. New regional international warehouse support is also being implemented to enable clients to receive deliveries promptly regardless of location.
A cabinet design facility is now operating to create innovative cabinet designs which will change the way wall beds are purchased and installed, reducing cost and weight, and increasing speed to installation. While WBS does not make cabinets (they are best made locally) some of these ideas and innovations will shape the wall bed industry for the future, permitting easier access towards creating comfortable and multipurpose space and integrating harmoniously with the hardware designs.
The company was established by Managing Director, Jeremy Waller, who after considerable industry experience manufacturing and selling mattresses and beds across Asia, saw and seized the opportunity to create reliable, safe and flexible wall beds which could suit larger, heavier and high-end mattresses.
WBS has been manufacturing their spring balance systems over 20 years allowing for precise tension adjustments and easy lift, with no compromise on comfort or convenience. Finger-tip operation was the result.
Most wall bed designs have traditionally used gas lifts, akin to those found in a car tailgate. These can struggle to lift larger mattresses encouraging WBS to depart from the gas lift system towards designing an improved system and solution. As a result, WBS developed their own in-house springs and have since produced over one million springs to date. These springs are intrinsically durable, offering vastly improved longevity. As a result, due to the spring system, all WBS wall beds manage heavier loads and larger mattresses, including the heavier hybrid designs used increasingly today, with high density foams and smaller pocketed mattress springs.
All systems are easy to install and fit full height mattresses. The full wall bed design includes the bed counterbalance mechanism (SBLM), bed frame rails, mountings, pivot system, springs and fasteners. Powder-coated parts are ergonomic and durable, offering assured longevity and available in multiple colour options.
The Alpha bed system is the most popular product among customers globally, available in standard and special sizes, with vertical and horizontal mounting and a choice of leg options with an add on desk option. The design contains robust steel bed frames, with strengthened steel stiffeners for a strong platform. Frames are available in single, double, queen or king sizes and come with the adjustable SBLM, allowing perfect balance and easy, safe ‘fingertip’ operation every time. All WBS models, including The NeXT bed, are available in horizontal layout when room sizes dictate with additional accessories available to enable customisation.
The NeXT bed gives an immediate, ready to use solution with or without cabinet, and which still delivers comfort levels indistinguishable from a conventional bed. All products are stocked at multiple locations globally with advice provided around options and sizes.
WBS holds over 3000 kits in stock at any one time so any quantity can be shipped quickly worldwide and on demand from one pallet up to a whole container.
