Bluerun Ltd is a proud family-run joinery business with a difference. The Essex-based company bucks the trend by steering away from CNC machines. Instead, the team lovingly creates drawings by hand and assembles all projects in-house to industry high standards every time.
With a history spanning over thirty years, Bluerun completes bespoke projects for the commercial and domestic markets including the conservation/heritage sectors, internal and external windows, gates, decks, doors, fitted furniture, pubs and offices. Across commercial or domestic joinery service, Bluerun is happy to take enquiries for all projects, large or small, with the website housing a gallery of selected past completed projects, showcasing the high standard of craftmanship.
“There have been quite a few jobs recently where we’ve had to manufacture replacement casements on listed buildings with the existing glass needing to be re-used. These have all been successfully swapped over. These types of jobs have to made on a like-for-like basis. Similarly, we’ve also manufactured some side sliding sash windows recently for a listed building where council permission had to be granted. This involved not only matching existing windows, but preparing suitable drawings for the home owner to send with their application.” explained Dee Newman, Finance Director.
With all eyes on the 2050 UK Government net zero targets, Bluerun has implemented its own sustainable best practices through installing LED lights throughout the workshop, in place of traditional fluorescent lighting, in a bid to reduce the company carbon footprint.
“We are family owned and run, and this reflects in our work ethos. We are working on a couple of changes within the business to make it easier for our processes and customers. In the short term, we are finally adding a shop to our website for various items that have been manufactured during the quiet times such as mirrors, tables, clocks, etc. Long term we would still like to expand the bench joiner team and are working hard on how best to do that.”
